History
The
history of Kirkpatrick Oil Company dates back to the
1920’s when John E. Kirkpatrick’s father-in-law Mack
Blake purchased oil and gas royalties in Gray
County, TX and Reno County, KS. After attending
Harvard Business School and serving his country as a
naval officer in World War II, Mr. Kirkpatrick was
encouraged to set up his own oil and gas company
that today is known as Kirkpatrick Oil Company.
The legacy of Mr.
Kirkpatrick is not just his success in professional
business. He and his wife Eleanor were the driving
force in forming the Oklahoma City Community
Foundation which has funded more than two hundred
other non-profit organizations. The Kirkpatrick’s
philanthropic work has included the Oklahoma City
Zoo, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, and several
civic organizations across Oklahoma.
